Background
The world of banking is changing dramatically as a result of regulation, technology and society. New developments in the past three years include advances in regulatory change, the impact of China and India to the latest experiments with a cashless society.
Our speakers will assesses the trends that have occurred during the past three years and looks at predictions for the future of banking.
Issues to be discussed include:

  • The impact of emerging markets such as China and India
  • Regulatory changes including Europe's Financial Services Action Plan, MiFID, SEPA, as well as the impact of Basel II and Sarbanes-Oxley
  • The displacement of Cash and Cards through Contactless, Mobile and Biometric Payments
Chris Skinner is Chief Executive of Balatro, a think tank on the future of financial services, and Chairman of the Financial Services Club, a UK-based group which meets regularly to debate the future of the financial markets. He is also a member of the Financial Services Club Advisors, a group of senior executives who work with Club members on their strategies and markets.

Chris is well-known for his regular columns on Finextra.com and in the Banker magazine, as well as his daily blog at TheFinanSer. He is the author of several books including "The Future of Banking" and "The Future of Investing". He is a contributor to the World Economic Forum's Scenario Project on Technology Innovation in Financial Services, and has worked closely with the financial markets research firm, TowerGroup.

Professor Ray Kinsella is Director of the Centre for Insurance Studies, which was established in 1995. He is widely published in the areas of financial institutions, insurance and corporate governance, including a number of written or edited books and numerous journal articles. He was previously an economist at the Central Bank of Ireland and Economic Advisor to the Minister for Trade.
