Why SEPA Works... |
| Speaker: |
Michael Salmony, Advisor to the Board of Equens and the Member of the European Payments Council |
| Registration: |
Member or Non-Member * |
With SEPA, e-invoicing, mobile and other payment services all gaining intense invesmtent and focus during the past year or so, the challenge for a bank is where to focus once the basic pan-European payment infrastructure is in place. In other words, once SEPA's systems are in play, we can get on to the more interesting, more value-creating higher layers of payments and finance that leverage the underlying investment. What are those new products and services? How will they operate and who will be taking advantage? Michael Salmony, Member of the European Payments Council on e- and m- payments, and Member of the European Commission Steering Committee on e-Invoicing, takes a look.
Last year, at one of our most popular Club meetings, Tim outlined Wells Fargos experiences with Web 2.0, social networks and virtual worlds. Eighteen months later, Wells Fargo has transformed even further and is in process to become an American powerhouse if their acquisition of Wachovia succeeds. Therefore, in what will prove to be a fascinating update, Tim tells us more of their online world experiences and where things go from here.

Commissioner McCreevy has placed the blame for the credit crater at transparency’s doorstep. We at the CMC ask, "
Is this fair?"
This will be a challenging debate about whether the European business landscape will ever be transparent and whether the efforts that leading technology and data professionals are making to fix the key issues are sufficient. Decide for yourself whether this house is right or not.
Participants will hear experts propose and discuss the motions for and against under The Chatham House Rule, then get to express their own views by voting on the key points:
- Has the transparency equation become that hard?
- the market sort itself out?
- Are the operating models ready?
