Andy Coppell is a Founder Member and a Director of Shaping Tomorrow. He has been a leading figure in the Insurance and Banking industries for over 30 years. He is a founding director of CIO Connect which in the last five years has been established as the leading CIO Forum in the UK. Prior to setting up CIO Connect Andy was Director of Systems and Operations at Lloyd's of London. During his time at Lloyd's, 1989 until 1997, Andy was responsible for the planning and provision of systems and services to the Lloyd's Market. He also played a leading role in the Lloyd's Reconstruction and Renewal Program, being responsible for establishing the Lloyd's Single Claims Office and the Specialist Asbestos, Pollution and Health Hazard Claims Unit and was a founding director of Equitas, the Lloyd's Reinsurance Company.

Before joining Lloyd's Andy had spent 5 years as a Director of Kleinwort Benson, where he was Group Director of Information Systems,and responsible for all aspects of the Bank's worldwide investment in technology. This included successfully managing the changes necessary to support Big Bang as well as setting up and operating the Dealing Rooms in London, New York and Tokyo. For the previous 12 years Andy was with the Sedgwick Group. Throughout that period he was responsible for all aspects of IT, Communications, Office Services and Property. He was a Sedgwick Limited Board Director as well as Deputy Chairman of the Group Finance and Administration Company. During his time at Sedgwicks Andy was Chairman of the London Market Systems Committee and was a major force behind standardisation in the Insurance Industry and the creation of the London Market Insurance Network.

Andy joined Sedgwicks having spent 12 years with IBM which company he joined direct after graduating from Glasgow University. While at IBM he held various positions including UK Manufacturing Information Services manager, World Trade Information Services Manager based in New York and Operations Consultant to National Westminster Bank. Throughout his career Andy has been motivated by a conviction that technology is a means to achieve business objectives rather than an end in itself. He has also been a firm believer in the need to understand and be able to respond to emerging future trends.
